Qs & their As

Why does this test matter, can't I just avoid gluten?

Yes, but no: if you've started to avoid gluten because you know it makes you feel better, it's really important to know if your body is producing antibodies to it (and wheat) - and if gluten or wheat are damaging your intestinal lining more than the average person.

If there are antibodies or if you have para and/or intracellular intestinal permeability - you'll know gluten isn't something you can have after any period of time, and instead, that you need to start avoiding cross contact and beginning to change your environment and personal body products.

NCGS is non-celiac gluten sensitivity and it doesn't always come with the severe symptoms those with celiac disease may have, but it's a big warning sign for being on the autoimmune spectrum. The immune cascade and inflammation that small amounts of gluten (and maybe wheat too) can cause can set you up for an autoimmune diagnosis long-term, so it is critical to know if your body truly can't tolerate gluten and if you need to be as strict (or stricter) than your celiac peers.

You can also opt to see if you have the celiac gene through this test, and if that might be something that you need to be extra careful about too.

What is the difference between the finger prick test (blood spot) and the blood draw test?

The finger prick test provides the majority of the 40 data points we offer. The test becomes a blood draw test If you add on the celiac gene test.

When I buy the test with the celiac gene add on, does Gluten Acumen provide the blood draw?

No, however our laboratory partner has a long list of phlebotomy providers across the country that we will share with you.

You can contact any phlebotomist to schedule a blood draw. Many phlebotomist providers are mobile and can meet you at your home or workplace. They will also mail the specimen in for you.

Directions for both you and them will be included in your Test.

How long do test results take?

From the time of your submission, test results can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks on average.

If I buy the gluten coaching program, how long until I see results?

Depending on your body, you may feel and see results in as soon as 3-5 days depending on the changes you implement. Most clients feel significantly different in just 4-8 weeks. Long-term healing on a cellular basis can take many months and is why we always start with ensuring your program works for your lifestyle and encourage diligence with your health program.

Do you serve my state?

Right now we serve all 50 states, but if you live in NY you cannot mail the test back from NY. Please contact us for additional details, we can help you navigate this in various ways depending on your budget (drive to a bordering state, hire a mobile phlebotomist, etc). Sometimes there are similar requirements for NJ and RI.

Do you ship internationally?
